URGENT CARE IN YEMEN
Bachelor of Architecture - Fall 2015 - SCAD
SITE LOCATION + SITE PLAN
The Yemen is locating in the south of the Arabian Peninsula, at the border of the Gulf of Aden. The country used to be devided into two. Aden, where the site of this project is located, is the main city of the south part. Civil wars between the two republics havs been a problem until the end of the 20th century, followed by the arrival of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. In 2009, the Yemen has been the target of the U.S drones strikes, aiming the terrorist group. This country has been in war for a long time and multiple hospitals have been destroyed. I chose this site because it is out of way of any other medical support.
SECTION
To create a safe place for the population, my solution was to create a building with an undergroup level that has the same properties as a bunker, which mean a thick concrete roof.
FLOOR PLANS
The exterior look of the urgernt care is compose by eleven mass, all declined in different angles.
MAIN LOBBY
The different angles allow the adaption of windows on the roof, which let natural light to light up the interior.
RECEPTION.jpg
Overral, the exterior shows how protective the building is, while the interior is based on another comcept. I tried to create a space where patients could focuse on themselves and on theur well-being, instead of the war.
INNER RAMP
The inside garden has for goal to show the patients to turn their focuse on their inner, and the ramp should illustrates the smooth circulation and pushes patients to relax.
LOWER LOBBY
EXAM ROOM
TRAUMA ROOM
X-RAY ROOM
